Despite a few minor upsets on Saturday I ended up having a pretty good weekend. Friday night I stayed home and successfully hemmed my new jeans so that I could wear them on Saturday. I also finished watching Disc 2 of the first season of "California Dreams". I've taken up catching up on old shows I used to watch when I was a kid thanks to Netflix.
Saturday started off okay..I met up with my friend Carlos and took some clothes to a consignment shop which didn't want to buy anything at all from me. That was a disappointment considering the shoes I was currently wearing were hurting my feet and even chafed them up a little. Thankfully I was able to go to one of my favorite stores - Peachfrog - and bought a pair of flip flops which saved my life. After the stores we went to Fort Greene Park to catch a performance by one of our favorite bands Si*Se. It was a free concert put together by One Fokus and we got there in time to watch Pattern Is Movement perform before Si*Se. At one point I was upset at Carlos because the lead singer Carol C. had actually walked by us as we sat on the grass and I definitely wanted to meet her. Luckily for me after their very wonderful performance I was able to take a picture with Carol and get her autograph. I know I'm such a groupie lol, but the girl is truly talented and is the sweetest little thing ever! After the performance we parted ways since I was off to a surprise birthday party for my sister's friend. One of the best parts of my night was definitely the food. The barbecue chicken was good, and my mother's potato salad was delicious! The Dominican birthday cake was also great, I had half of my piece before I went to bed as I was too stuffed after dinner to eat it.
Sunday started off with me waking up late. I don't know why lately but I rarely make it out of bed before 1pm, and I hate it because on Monday I have to be up around 6am. Thankfully my sister agreed to go watch "Eat, Pray, Love" since staying at home definitely sounded boring. The movie was very good in my opinion, well worth the hype it has built up. Afterwards we had Thai food, and stopped by a bakery to get some goodies. We had to walk home from the train in the rain which wasn't so bad but it was a little windy this weekend so I am just hoping I don't catch a cold.
